Teaching, group facilitation, training and research

I am particularly interested in the interplay between the spiritual and the psychological in working with people. This is reflected in my practice, teaching, training and research interests:

  • My doctoral thesis explored the relationship between spirituality and psychodynamic counselling: Spirituality in Psychodynamic counselling: An exploration of counsellors’ understanding of and engagement with spirituality in practice (2016) Oxford Brookes University.

  • I am currently writing a book based on my PhD.

  • I am interested in developing research into spirituality in counselling and psychotherapy, and into healthcare generally. Membership of The British Association for the Study of Spirituality enables this.

  • I am also a member of the reference group for Oxford Centre for Spirituality and Wellbeing, a centre that facilitates the development of integrated models of care, one that specifically includes spiritual and religious care needs.

  • Other research interests include the development of research methodologies and the implementation of research into practice.
