I provide a safe, accepting and confidential space to help you address your current issues and/or unresolved difficulties from the past. I aim to help you feel secure, not judged and accepted to help you to think and to talk freely about issues that may have felt too difficult, frightening or powerful before.
This is to help you to have a greater sense of self-awareness and to provide relief of suffering. I aim to help you make the changes that you want in your life, accept those aspects that you cannot change and support you while you find your way through your current difficulties.
I work with a wide range of individuals from many different walks of life and cultures and aim to reflect diversity of culture, gender and class.
Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic thinking is the core of my practice. I do also integrate ideas from other models, working with what is most helpful for you.
A counselling session with me lasts for 50 minutes. I invite clients to an initial assessment to see if we can work together. A decision is made over the initial sessions about whether a short term contract or open ended therapeutic work is needed.
I believe in developing myself and as such keep myself up to date by a variety of methods. This includes having professional supervision, continuing professional development events, teaching others and research.
